Position Summary:

The Logos Student Newspaper Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) supports the editor and assistant editor in producing The Logos, a student‑run digital newspaper. The MMJ reports to the Faculty Advisor for The Logos and assists with newsroom production, writing, and multimedia content creation. This student position is open to current UIW students and may be hired through the Federal Work‑Study Program or student employment.

Essential Functions

Identify newsworthy events and story ideas.

Gather information through research, observation, and interviews.

Write news stories, features, and articles for various formats.

Edit and proofread content for grammar, accuracy, and style.

Produce, edit, and manage audio, video, and photographic content.

Assist in the production of the newspaper.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good grammar skills and knowledge of Associated Press style.

Photography skills.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Adherence to all applicable university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Required Education

Full‑time UIW student during the 2026‑27 academic year.

Minimum GPA of 2.5, with a 3.0 in the major discipline.

At least a sophomore (exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the Board).

Required Work Experience
No required work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to students with previous high school or college journalistic experience, such as involvement in a newspaper, yearbook, magazine, anthology, broadcasting class, or website.

Work Hours
Up to twenty hours per week based on student availability.

Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Salary
$12 per hour.
