Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Communication, Media & Journalism department on the Gainesville campus. Help plan and facilitate all Radio, Podcast and Live Event functions for WNHR - Nighthawk Radio, in conjunction with the Radio and Podcast Club RSO. This includes but may not be limited to: ensuring quality and consistency of online streaming, pre and post production of Podcasts, organizing and executing live events in conjunction with multiple on campus entities, as well as participation with radio broadcasts, pre-recorded podcasts and hosting live events on campus.
Responsibilities
Duties may differ depending on which department candidate is best suited for, based on these primary categories:
General Operations: station and facility management, repair and updating- software and hardware. Facilitate Guest/Host/DJ acquisition, interactions and UNG/FCC compliance.
Marketing/Social Media/Outreach: multi-platform online and in-person engagement with on-campus and community entities, including newscast and general promotions.
Finance & Acquisition: Coordinate and secure station funding via ad revenue, university subsidy, and/or community donations/sponsorship.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Dependent on candidate's strengths, but these are core attributes:
General familiarity with communication, scheduling and productivity platforms/programs (Outlook, Teams, Adobe Suite, etc.)
Ability and dedication to work upwards of ten hours per week (over 2-3 days on Gainesville campus) while maintaining class attendance and GPA
Specific curiosity of and/or experience with recording/broadcast gear, audio/video capture and editing.
Required Qualifications
Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
