Job Description
The 3D Model Finisher is an essential part of Client’s Corporate Advanced Prototyping Team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of client’s next generation medical products and enhance the current product portfolio. Under the general direction of the Corporate CAE Advanced Prototyping Manager, the role will provide high quality “finished” 3D Printed models (SLA, Carbon-CLIP, PolyJet 3D Printing & Direct Metal Laser Melting) to our business customers in a safe and timely manner, actively researching and developing advanced finishing techniques and best practices.

Responsibilities

Perform post processing of 3D Printed models using processes such as ultrasonic cleaning, sand blasting, pressure washing, hand sanding, polishing, and painting while maintaining accuracy and visual aesthetics.

Operate 3D Printers in areas of standard maintenance, removing prints, and machine setup.

Use precision measurement devices to ensure dimensional accuracy.

Learn and maintain proficiency in various CAD software packages used (e.g., Magics Software).

Ensure successful delivery of completed jobs by securely and safely packaging and generating shipping labels.

Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.

Work in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices.

Observe all BDT Safety and Quality Standards. Wear proper safety equipment where required.

Qualifications

Must be a self-starter and proactive, asking for the next task and recognizing upcoming tasks.

Ability to operate well in a team environment.

Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Not afraid to ask questions or alert others of problems.

Organized and time-oriented, contributing to quick turn-around time while ensuring fine detail, accuracy, and good quality products.

Attention to detail is extremely important.

Past experience in finishing processing of small plastic prototypes, including sanding, painting, and dyeing.

Enjoys working on small plastic models or arts & crafts.

Ability to identify problems with a model and alert responsible team members.

Goes through tasks with ownership and dedication, seeing tasks through to completion.

Standard computer skills (Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Knowledge of 3D Printing or model finishing is a bonus.

Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; AS/BS degree is a plus.

Open to exploring new techniques to enhance post processing capabilities; brings new finishing techniques or ideas is a bonus.

Willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and change.
