As a 3D digital artist at Bad Dragon, you will be a fundamental creative force behind product designs, marketing materials, and explorations of new product categories. The role requires flexibility, a passion for innovative design, and the ability to deliver exceptional work while managing multiple projects amid changing priorities. You must transition smoothly between projects, collaborate effectively with diverse teams, and communicate professionally across all workspaces.
Responsibilities Sculpt high-resolution 3D models in ZBrush, Blender, Maya, or Houdini.
Develop models into previsualizations using Keyshot, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
Create manufacturable product concepts with Meshmixer, Fusion 360, and other relevant tools.
Review and understand project documents, photo references, textual descriptions, and digital assets—including clay sculptures.
Conceptualize, develop, create, and animate complex, visually stunning digital content.
Follow Bad Dragon’s brand standards, guidelines, and art direction, while supporting guidance from project management and other departments.
Present projects at various stages to stakeholders, ensuring designs meet company requirements and approvals.
Collaborate, taking direction and feedback from Art Directors, Management, and other stakeholders.
Help revise and create new quality standards for modeling and texturing products within the company.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Visual Effects, Computer Animation, or a related 3D field (preferred but not required).
Minimum one year of professional experience as an in‑house 3D designer or visual effects artist in a marketing or creative environment, or equivalent experience.
Thorough knowledge of human and non‑human anatomy.
Demonstrable 3D sculpting ability with a broad portfolio of work.
Proficiency in 3D modeling tools such as ZBrush, Houdini, Maya, and Substance Painter.
Proficiency in 2D art creation/manipulation packages such as Photoshop.
In‑depth knowledge of 3D principles regarding modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, composition, and production workflows.
Well‑presented portfolio showing relevant work examples and process (required).
Proven ability to be detail‑oriented and work efficiently within a production environment.
Strong self‑organization and time‑management skills.
Friendly, helpful, and collaborative in a team‑based environment; self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and a solid artistic vision.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the essential ability to communicate visually using traditional media.
