Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for an experienced Video Editor to fill a hybrid contract position in Birmingham, AL. The schedule is 4 days in office with 1 day remote, typically Friday.
Job Responsibilities Use video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) to edit raw video footage into a cohesive and visually appealing final product.
Review and select the best shots and sequences from raw video material to create a coherent narrative or visual story.
Enhance videos with visual effects, graphics, text overlays, and animations to convey information and engage viewers effectively.
Edit and mix audio elements, including dialogue, music, and sound effects, to ensure high‑quality audiovisual content.
Adjust and enhance the color, contrast, and brightness of video footage to achieve the desired look and mood.
Create smooth transitions between shots and scenes to maintain the flow of the video.
Collaborate with directors, producers, and content creators to understand the video's purpose and message, and then translate that into the final edit.
Review and incorporate feedback from clients, directors, or stakeholders to refine and improve video projects.
Organize and manage video files, ensuring that projects are well‑structured and easily accessible for future use.
Adapt video content to various formats and platforms, such as social media, websites, and mobile devices.
Prepare final video projects for distribution by rendering and exporting them in the appropriate formats and resolutions.
Perform quality checks to ensure that videos meet technical specifications and industry standards.
Stay updated on industry trends, video editing techniques, and software advancements to enhance skills and capabilities.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in film, media production, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Proven experience as a Video Editor, often demonstrated through a portfolio of past work.
At least 1‑year minimum job experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Camtasia required.
Experience with Adobe After Effects strongly preferred.
Strong creative and artistic skills to craft engaging and visually appealing videos.
Keen attention to detail to ensure visual and audio continuity and consistency.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients and understand project requirements.
Problem‑solving skills to address technical issues and challenges that may arise during the editing process.
Excellent time‑management skills to meet project deadlines and deliver high‑quality work efficiently.
Ability to adapt to different video styles, genres, and client preferences.
Collaborative mindset to work effectively with directors, producers, and other creative professionals.
A strong portfolio showcasing a range of video editing projects and skills is often required.
Links to online portfolios (e.g., Vimeo, YouTube, personal website) are preferred.
This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
