Actors and Actresses Sought for "Watch on the Rhine" ShowOnly local talent will be considered. Auditions for the play "Watch on the Rhine" are underway – we are looking for actors. The play follows an idealistic German and his American wife and children who flee Hitler’s Germany and find refuge with the wife’s family in the United States. Their hope for safety conflicts with the convictions that led them to oppose the Nazi regime.Show Dates: September 17–20Audition Details: Sides will be provided at auditions. If you prefer, you may prepare a short 1–2 minute monologue. Kurt’s wife and Fanny’s daughter. She returns to Washington after years abroad, has raised a family, supports Kurt’s mission, and remains steadfast in her support.David Farrelly – Male, 18–96, All ethnicities. Fanny’s son, an ambitious attorney who struggles under his father’s shadow and falls in love with Marthe de Brancovis.Marthe de Brancovis – Female, 30–34, All ethnicities. American wife of Romanian nobleman Teck. Tired of her husband’s gambling, they have a strained marriage and she develops a romantic interest in David.Teck’s husband – Romanian nobleman. A contemptuous figure, Kurt’s foil, representing the darker side of human nature… He threatens Kurt’s safety, forcing the protagonists into moral and physical danger.Anise – Female, 60–65, All ethnicities. The Farrellys’ 60‑year‑old French maid. Proud and outspoken, she challenges Fanny’s overbearing nature and observes family affairs.Joseph – Male, 18–96, All ethnicities. The Farrelly family’s butler. He shares Anise’s fortitude in standing up to Fanny’s domineering personality, contributing to the household’s dynamic.
