The Associate Director of Marketing Technology & AI is the agency's resident expert at the intersection of marketing and technology — someone who can speak the language of both developers and clients, and who genuinely loves making complex ideas accessible. This role bridges complex digital tech and client-facing marketing by translating goals into technical requirements, executing solutions, and troubleshooting issues with confidence and clarity.
This person is equal parts technical practitioner, internal educator, and client partner. They are at ease in a boardroom presentation and a developer standup. They know how to ask the right questions to build tools that actually work, and they know how to explain why those tools matter to someone who has never written a line of code.
The Associate Director is responsible for the agency's MarTech stack, attribution modeling, and measurement governance, and works closely with the media department and marketing data analyst to ensure clear data pipelines and client-ready reporting. Web developers will report to this role. The Associate Director will also head the agency's AI Task Force — a cross-department workgroup focused on evaluating, implementing, and developing AI tools for both clients and internal agency operations. This role reports to the VP Growth Intelligence and Digital Strategy.
Client Partnership & Communication
Act as a technical account partner for clients — understanding their marketing goals and translating them into clear technical requirements and solutions.
Communicate complex data, analytics, and technology concepts in plain, conversational language that resonates with both marketing clients and non-technical stakeholders.
Build and maintain trusted client relationships through consultative guidance, proactive problem-solving, and a steady, approachable presence.
Deliver client-facing presentations with confidence — simplifying technical subject matter without dumbing it down.
Provide technical support and consultation to clients and internal teams on roadblocks and best practices.
Internal Education & Team Leadership
Champion a culture of learning — actively educating internal teams on MarTech tools, AI capabilities, and digital best practices in ways that stick.
Serve as the go-to resource for internal teams who need help understanding what the technology does, why it matters, and how to use it.
Guide and lead web developers, setting clear direction and maintaining high standards for technical output.
Work cross-discipline across all areas of the agency rather than within rigid silos; demonstrate curiosity, excellence, and leadership.
Encourage a positive, harmonious attitude among agency executives and staff.
Serve as the agency's subject-matter expert on marketing analytics and tracking, with deep knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Cloud Platform, and the tracking capabilities of major ad platforms.
Own and evolve the agency's MarTech stack — coordinating tools, ensuring appropriate usage, and identifying gaps or opportunities for improvement.
Be in charge of attribution modeling and measurement governance; work closely with the media department.
Work with the data analyst to design and implement measurement strategies and tools.
Develop documentation and roadmaps for marketing automation processes, data models, tech stacks, and other MarTech and AI-related business functions.
Develop and optimize marketing automation and nurturing processes through rigorous testing of email and personalized content performance.
Manage and optimize key conversion points in the marketing funnel, including landing pages, calls-to-action (CTAs), and lead forms.
AI Leadership & Internal Tool Development
Head the agency's AI Task Force — a cross-department workgroup focused on all matters related to AI — and provide ongoing recommendations for new tools and approaches.
Lead initiatives for building internal AI tools that improve agency workflows, output quality, and client results.
Know the right questions to ask internal teams in order to scope, build, and iterate on those tools effectively.
Stay current on the latest trends in AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI — and bring that knowledge back to both clients and internal teams in useful, practical ways.
Develop in-house AI tools as needed to support agency operations and client solutions.
Technical Execution
Write custom scripts as needed and build and maintain custom email templates.
Identify repetitive tasks across internal teams and develop or recommend technical solutions to streamline them.
Help develop scopes of work on an as-needed basis.
Competencies Strong MarTech background with hands-on experience coordinating and managing marketing technology platforms.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — conversational, clear, and adaptable to any audience.
Strong presentation skills; able to simplify complex problems into something people can understand and act on.
Solutions-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
Genuine educator's mentality — a desire to bring others along, not just execute independently.
Comfortable operating as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
