By fostering meaningful career and academic pathways in the sports sector, the Director contributes to Georgetown McDonough’s mission to prepare principled business leaders ready to thrive in a dynamic, global industry.The Director of Career, Academic and Experiential Initiatives, will play a key student- and employer-facing role in Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business’ Durban Sports Business Program, guiding undergraduate Durban Sports Business Fellows in both their pursuit of careers in the sports industry and their academic journeys. This position supports students at the intersection of career development, academic advising and co-curricular experiential engagement. This new role supports an internationally distinctive program that blends academic rigor, industry engagement, and student development in a values-based, globally-minded environment.Working in close partnership with the Georgetown McDonough Career Center, the Director will develop industry-aligned career pathways, create internship and full-time job pipelines and strategies, and prepare students for roles in the industry. The Director will also work with the Undergraduate Programs Office to provide tailored guidance on the student journey including course selection, degree planning, and experiential learning & co-curricular opportunities.

The remaining portion of the role will support the Durban Sports Business Program in overall program development and operations including developing and coordinating high-impact, experiential, co-curricular, academic and career initiatives for students in the Durban Sports Business Program. The Director will also interface with other McDonough program offices and the Georgetown University Cawley Career Education Center.The candidate will bring a strong understanding of the sports industry. Additionally, the candidate will have an understanding of business education and a passion for helping students translate academic interests into meaningful professional opportunities in the evolving world of sports. The Director will play a pivotal role in delivering a personalized, high-impact student experience at the heart of Georgetown McDonough’s growing presence in sports and business.**Additional duties include, but are not limited to:*** Collaborating with Georgetown’s Career Centers, Alumni Affairs, Undergraduate Program Office, and the Durban Sports Business Program Executive Director to develop industry-aligned career pathways, as well as internship and full-time job pipelines and strategies.* Identifying, cultivating and executing experiential learning opportunities, both off and on campus, in support of students securing full-time roles upon graduation.* Providing individualized career coaching, including resume reviews, mock interviews, internship/job search strategy, and networking support with a focus on roles in the sports industry.* Advising Durban Sports Business Fellows on academic planning, course selection, and degree progress in alignment with McDonough’s undergraduate requirements and the goals of the Durban Sports Business Program; liaise with faculty and Deans to manage students’ needs.* Partnering with faculty, the Undergraduate Programs Office, the McDonough Career Center, the Cawley Career Center, and the Executive Director to integrate academic and career development resources, sports-related research opportunities, and ensure a cohesive student experience* Planning and executing co-curricular programming such as workshops, industry treks, networking opportunities, and speaker events that prepare students for success in sports business careers* Contributing to the overall administration of the Durban Sports Business Program by supporting strategic planning, coordinating with campus partners, and assisting with program evaluation and communications.* Managing administrative and operational responsibilities and budget associated with program activities, including coordination with the Georgetown finance team, vendors (for catering, transportation, etc.), and outside contractors as appropriate.* Supporting McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University, and prospective students interested in the Durban Sports Business Program.**Work Interactions**The Director will support the Durban Sports Business Program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business by guiding undergraduate Durban Sports Business Fellows in their career and academic development. The Director will develop sports business career pathways, internship and full-time job pipelines and strategies; as well as help students prepare for job opportunities through tailored career coaching and professional goal setting.

This role will assist students with sports business course planning and academic advising, while supporting the overall growth and execution of the program. The Director will report to the Executive Director of the Durban Sports Business Program and represent the program in close coordination with the Undergraduate Programs Office and Georgetown Career Centers.They will also help develop and implement experiential learning and co-curricular offerings, including workshops, treks, and networking / mentorship experiences, that bridge classroom learning with real-world application. Through regular engagement with faculty, staff, alumni, and industry partners, the advisor will play a critical role in delivering a cohesive, high-impact student experience.**Requirements and Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.* 5 years of experience in sports business industry* Passion for business education and the development of young adults.**Preferred qualifications*** A master’s degree in Business, Higher Education, HR, Student Counseling, Sports Management, or a related field.* At least 5+ years of relevant experience in talent acquisition, HR, organization and talent management in the sports business.* A strong understanding of common career paths and employer expectations in the sports business.* Experience in designing career pathways and internship & full-time job pipelines and strategies for college students or early career professionals.* A deep network of sports executives, practitioners, and firms.* Skills relevant to career coaching, academic advising, student services, or higher education administration.* A student-centered mindset and familiarity with undergraduate business curricula and advising undergraduate business students.* Proven ability to design and coordinate experiential learning & co-curricular programming, student-facing events, and/or employer engagement initiatives.* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners.* Ability to manage multiple priorities and represent the Durban Sports Business Program in interactions with the Undergraduate Programs Office, Georgetown Career Centers, other university offices, alumni, and faculty.* Alignment with Georgetown University’s mission and values, including a focus on ethical leadership, service, and global awareness.**Work Mode Designation**This position has been designated as **Hybrid** with the expectation that generally speaking, the Director is in the office when students are on campus. The role may require occasional travel to support immersion and other program-related activities.
