BROADWAY IN CHICAGO STAGE DOOR PERSONNEL

Broadway In Chicago · Chicago, IL, USA ·

Pay:
$17.05 per hour
Job type:
Full Time

Stage Door Personnel
The stage door position is responsible for acting as the first point of contact for anyone seeking entry into the restricted portions of the theatre. Interpersonal skills are essential for navigating the line between welcoming show staff and vendors while also enforcing building policies and turning away anyone without proper credentials. As the person responsible for opening/closing the building, this part‑time position requires a flexible work schedule and the ability to arrive early/stay late as needs dictate. Weekday, evening and weekend shifts are available; applicants with evening and weekend availability will be given priority.

Responsibilities

Stage Door attendants maintain strict access control at the stage door by positively confirming everyone who enters the building belongs on site at the time of their arrival and following up with an appropriate supervisor for anyone lacking proper credentials.

Open the building for show staff ahead of all scheduled activity and close the building at the end of the day. This requires traversing the building to lock/unlock doors daily, so shift start and end times can be subject to change on short notice to accommodate last‑minute show needs.

Enforce all building policies.

Accept and log all incoming packages to the building and provide access for the drop off of large deliveries, occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs.

Receive all incoming calls to the theatre; resolve patron inquiries when possible or forward the call to the appropriate department when necessary.

Act as a communication hub between departments and show staff by relaying information via phone and radio communication on site, including placing any necessary emergency calls.

Practice conflict resolution/customer service before passing concerned staff, vendors, or patrons to an appropriate supervisor.

Maintain daily reports for all activity taking place at the building.
