Trope Publishing Co. is seeking a creative, organized, and highly motivated Associate Marketing Manager to lead title-level marketing and publicity efforts for our growing book publishing company. The Associate Marketing Manager will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive marketing campaigns that drive sales. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands‑on: someone who enjoys building marketing plans, writing compelling content, pitching media, and helping books reach new audiences through thoughtful and compelling campaigns. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about publishing, photography, travel, and visual storytelling.

Key responsibilities

Develop and execute marketing and publicity campaigns for individual book titles and series that drive sales.
Coordinate with authors, photographers, contributors, and external partners on promotional initiatives.
Coordinate review copy mailings and outreach to media, influencers, retailers, and cultural organizations.
Pitch books, authors, and projects to editors, journalists, podcasts, newsletters, and media outlets.
Identify partnership and event opportunities aligned with each title’s audience.
Write blog posts, newsletters, website copy, press releases, and marketing materials.
Collaborate with Marketing Designer to create campaign assets and visual materials.
Maintain marketing databases, press lists, and outreach tracking.
Working with Marketing/Partnerships Manager, build and maintain marketing and content calendar.
Identify key accounts and approach for special sales opportunities, including corporate gifts, hotel book placements, and bulk purchases.
Work with team to source new artists for future projects.
Support book launches, events, signings, and special projects as needed.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Expertise and qualifications

2+ years relevant work experience; publishing industry experience is a plus
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
Highly self‑directed, resourceful, and detail‑oriented with a meticulous eye for detail
Ability to think creatively and strategically about audience development
Computer proficiency including the Microsoft Office Suite
