Position and Employment Classification
Title: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER. Reports directly to the Company’s CEO or an appointed representative. This is an exempt position and is not subject to minimum wage or overtime regulations. Employees are expected to be in the field at least 25% of their working time, with 50% considered ideal to support sales success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Employee is expected to make every effort to optimize sales performance and engage in daily activities that facilitate this goal. Responsibilities include new business development, account implementation, and deepening customer relationships through face-to-face contact focused on achieving personal sales targets and market goals to close and activate new business with small to mid-sized urban customers.
Scheduling appointments and meeting customers to identify and qualify potential prospects and present current product offers.
Effective planning to conduct sales presentations by meeting customers physically on a daily basis.
Providing professional demonstrations or presentations of Company products and services on site.
Liaising between the Company and the customers for up-to-date pricing, service, and latest product‑release launches.
Identifying and qualifying prospective customers through research, networking and social media such as Facebook, Constant Contact Campaigns, and cold‑calling.
Communicating the scope of the work and needs of the customer to Designers and Production staff.
Enhancing up‑to‑date knowledge on new products, procedures, services, and tools by attending training and other meetings to recommend the best solution to customers for their printing and signage needs.
Continuously updating all prospects on Company product modifications, changes, and enhancements.
Maintaining professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the Company in a positive manner.
Effectively attending conferences and trade shows, where applicable.
Using marketing data to maximize sales effectiveness and efficiency by using relevant sales management tools.
Preparing reports for sales and marketing and maintaining accurate expense accounts.
Updating and maintaining customer account records, including contact names and numbers for future sales.
Providing product quotes to customers as needed.
