Stagehands support the Buddy Holly Hall production department by providing excellent technical theater knowledge while ensuring a safe workplace and outstanding customer service. They help maintain the venue’s reputation as a premier performing arts center.
OBJECTIVES
Provide responsive and timely technical assistance to all internal and external customers, including BHH management, union workers, employees, and clients.
Use available resources to deliver high‑quality technical services in the most cost‑effective manner.
Keep the Production Manager informed of current issues and opportunities that affect safety, cost, or time.
Maintain ongoing communication with BHH management and the Production Department.
Deliver the highest quality technical knowledge and service to ensure smooth event execution.
Ensure a safe workplace for all personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop positive, productive relationships with all artists, clients, and their staff through professional interactions and effective communication.
Communicate crew issues with the Production Manager and BHH management to ensure timely resolution.
Inform the Production Manager of any safety or functional issues, providing documentation based on cost, necessity, and timeliness.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of technical theater and experience across lighting, carpentry, rigging, sound, and properties.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Accurate clock‑in/out for each shift.
Physical aptitude to lift at least 50 lbs, walk, stand, climb, work at heights up to 100 feet, and load/unload trucks.
Availability for flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work effectively and positively with others.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Location: On‑site at the Buddy Holly Hall, Lubbock, Texas.
Physical demands include lifting, walking, standing, climbing, and working at heights up to 100 feet. Employers will provide reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities.
