Business Development Manager

Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000 base + bonus

Location: East Coast / Flexible (Hybrid or Remote considered, ~30–40% travel required)

Piper Maddox is partnered with a well-capitalized independent power producer focused on developing, owning, and operating utility‑scale battery energy storage assets across the United States.

As the organization continues to scale its storage platform, they are hiring a Business Development Manager to lead the origination, structuring, and negotiation of revenue contracts and commercial agreements across a growing development pipeline.

This is a high‑impact, greenfield origination role where the individual will be responsible for identifying and advancing commercial opportunities from early‑stage engagement through to execution - helping shape how the company monetizes its battery storage portfolio in key U.S. power markets.

Key Responsibilities

Originate and negotiate revenue contracts, offtake agreements, and structured commercial deals across utility‑scale storage assets

Lead commercial discussions with utilities, offtakers, developers, and market counterparties

Support project acquisitions, divestitures, and structured transaction activity where applicable

Build and maintain long‑term stakeholder relationships to expand commercial pipeline coverage

Develop pricing, term sheets, and commercial proposals for RFPs and market opportunities

Provide market intelligence and feedback to development, finance, and strategy teams

What We’re Looking For

3–7+ years of experience in business development, origination, power markets, or structured energy transactions

Strong track record in relationship‑driven sales or complex commercial deal execution

Experience supporting or leading commercial negotiations, contracting, or revenue agreements

Strong understanding of U.S. power markets (PJM preferred; ERCOT, NYISO, CAISO also relevant)

Ability to evaluate deal economics and commercial structures (Excel modeling a plus, not required)

Comfortable operating in a high‑autonomy, pipeline‑building environment from scratch
