Brooklyn Bedding is seeking a highly analytical and hands‑on Search & Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) Manager to lead our organic search visibility across traditional search engines, AI‑powered answer engines, community platforms, and customer‑facing knowledge experiences. This role will be responsible for setting priorities, measuring what's working, and keeping cross‑functional efforts aligned across content, development, and brand while personally producing content that closes high‑priority visibility gaps.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in SEO fundamentals and the rapidly evolving AEO landscape with strong writing ability and comfort using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) to produce content efficiently, backed by the analytical rigor to know what's working and where to focus next.

You will support Brooklyn Bedding as well as our family of niche brands which include Plank, Titan, RV Mattress, Dreamfoam Bedding, and Mattress Topper, helping each communicate its unique value through audience focused, high‑impact content.

Responsibilities:
Measurement, Analytics & Diagnostics

Establish and maintain reporting frameworks for SEO and AEO performance across all brands using existing tools (Profound, GA4, Ahrefs).

Analyze competitive citation and ranking trends to identify where Brooklyn Bedding is winning or losing ground, and why

Flag significant shifts in performance or search/answer‑engine behavior to the right internal owner (content, technical, brand)

Opportunity Identification & Prioritization

Develop scalable processes for identifying and prioritizing high‑impact SEO and AEO opportunities.

Conduct keyword, topic, entity, and search‑intent research to uncover new growth areas.

Evaluate competitor strategies and emerging search trends to inform roadmap development.

Build prioritization frameworks that balance business impact, effort, and resource requirements.

Create comprehensive SEO and AEO content strategies that align with customer needs throughout the purchase journey.

Develop detailed content briefs incorporating keyword research, customer intent, entity optimization, internal linking, and AI‑answer considerations.

Partner with content, creative, product, and merchandising teams to improve organic visibility and content quality.

Identify opportunities to refresh, consolidate, and expand existing content assets.

Technical SEO & Answer Engine Optimization

Collaborate on technical SEO initiatives including crawlability, indexing, schema markup, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, and internal linking optimization.

Collaborate on the Implementation of structured data and content frameworks that improve visibility within AI‑powered search experiences.

Partner with development teams to identify, prioritize, and validate technical improvements.

Continuously monitor evolving search engine and answer‑engine requirements and recommend optimization strategies.

Traditional SEO Program Management

Monitor traditional organic rankings and site health via existing tools (Ahrefs), intervening when something breaks or drops meaningfully

Run opportunistic tests tied to changes already in motion

Reddit & Community Visibility

Develop and help execute strategies to increase brand visibility and discoverability within Reddit and other community‑driven platforms.

Monitor relevant conversations, topics, and trends to identify content and engagement opportunities.

Partner with internal teams to create content that addresses authentic customer questions and discussions.

Evaluate the impact of community‑driven content on search visibility and brand authority.

Collaborate with CX team to optimize customer support and chatbot knowledge base content, improving the information available to both LLMs and our internal chat bot.

Partner with Customer Experience and dev teams to improve content structure, discoverability, and answer quality.

Develop frameworks for maintaining accurate, up‑to‑date, search‑friendly documentation.

New AEO Content Production

Lead creation and optimization of content designed specifically for AI‑powered search and answer engines.

Develop scalable content formats that increase the likelihood of citation, recommendation, and answer inclusion.

Identify emerging content opportunities across AI search platforms and conversational experiences.

Personally produce and partner with internal stakeholders and external resources to scale AEO‑focused content production.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience in SEO, organic search and content strategy

Demonstrated success growing organic traffic, visibility, and conversions through SEO initiatives.

Strong writer with a proven ability to personally produce content at volume, using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) as a core part of the daily drafting workflow. This is a hands‑on production role first.

Working knowledge of technical SEO fundamentals (crawlability, indexing, schema markup, site architecture) sufficient to identify and prioritize issues in partnership with development. This role specs and flags, it doesn't own implementation

Comfortable interpreting reporting/analytics tools (Profound, GA4, Ahrefs, or similar) and using the data to prioritize, without needing to build reporting infrastructure from scratch

Experience briefing, reviewing, or directing other contributors' work to a consistent quality bar

Strong cross‑functional communication skills; comfortable keeping content, development, and brand teams aligned around shared priorities

Nice‑to‑Haves:

Experience with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), AI search, or conversational search platforms.

Experience optimizing content for AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other AI‑powered discovery experiences.

Familiarity with Reddit strategy, community‑driven content, and digital PR.

Experience managing large content ecosystems and knowledge bases.

Experience in ecommerce, direct‑to‑consumer brands, or consumer products.
