Position Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for increasing sales by developing new business opportunities and leveraging existing sales within the foodservice sector, focusing on multi‑unit group business, platinum‑level accounts, and recovery of lost accounts.

What You’ll Do

Effectively manage and develop sales in current and new foodservice channels through a multi‑faceted research approach, collaborating with sales staff to identify opportunities that meet budgeted goals.

Create and execute a goal‑oriented system for each sales opportunity, developing custom‑tailored ideas based on each customer’s needs.

Demonstrate a high closing ability and skill set.

Build and maintain relationships with key decision makers, providing ongoing support after onboarding and turning over to sales.

Oversee accounts post‑handoff to ensure maximum sales potential.

Analyze trends, menus, and order guides against purchases to offer valued customer suggestions that maximize sales.

Clean and filter data to produce cost comparisons and communicate them in a customer‑friendly manner.

Gather street‑level business intelligence and translate it into actionable follow‑up, including appointment setting with decision makers.

Develop content for sales presentations tailored to each opportunity.

Support corporate business through daily communications.

Collaborate with transportation to ensure routes requiring additional tonnage are developed to maximize efficiency.

Travel to account headquarters as needed.

Regularly review sales reports to identify and target under‑leveraged accounts.

Qualifications

4‑year degree in Business or related field preferred.

5‑7 years of progressive growth in food‑service sales.

Advanced training in recent sales techniques preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Office).

Proven leadership and motivation skills.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced selling environment.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Independent work capability.

Presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.

Well‑versed in multiple forms of social media.
