Grand Canyon University Athletics is seeking a Student Creative Videographer to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU’s Athletics Department.
Purpose

The role involves producing or assisting full‑time staff with the production of video content for the Athletics Department, including pre‑production, production, and post‑production of original video content. The position may also be called upon to assist with broadcast and livestream productions for athletic events. Working evenings and weekends is required.

Responsibilities

Assisting full‑time staff with athletic creative video projects.
Producing original content within the GCU brand from creation to conclusion.
Videography for sporting events, practices, and other athletic related events.
Producing video content for social media, videoboard, broadcast, livestreams, and other events.
Creating highlight videos, long‑form stories, interviews, features, hype videos, promos, and more.
Assisting with pre‑production and planning for on‑location filming, including scheduling shoots, writing interview questions, and creating live event breakdowns.
Aiding in data management and organization of digital assets.
Serving as crew members on livestreams for athletic events (camera operators, replay operators, graphics operators, directors, and producers).
Equipment and Technical Skills

Working knowledge of Sony video cameras or comparable creative video cameras.
Working knowledge of Sony lenses or comparable lenses.
Working knowledge of editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud or Final Cut Pro.
Live‑event equipment – Black Magic or Sony cameras, Motion Rocket, 3Play, Black Magic switchers.
Frame.io for video uploads and workflow.
Prior handling of equipment is required; learning opportunities available.
Qualifications

Previous experience with video production, including videography, editing, and/or motion graphics.
Understanding of sports and sports terminology (basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, swimming & diving, track & field, tennis, golf).
Excellent eye for creating captivating video, outstanding production skills, deadline‑driven, and well‑developed sense of urgency.
Basic knowledge of camera operation, including operating a camera in a live event.
Ability to work quickly and produce quality video with short deadlines.
Ability to conduct interviews with a variety of subjects and extract meaningful information.
Ability to work independently and in a group.
Self‑starter who can learn new skills and new software.
Livestreaming skills are a bonus.
Experience / Education

Enrolled at GCU as a full‑time student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program.
Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor-level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master-level student.
Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the university; termination may occur if below minimum requirements.
