Redtwist Theatre seeks a Technical Director for their 2026 – 2027 season. The ideal candidate is reliable, collaborative, self‑paced, and detail oriented; finish carpentry experience is a plus.
Facilities
Redtwist Theatre is an intimate storefront, where audiences are fully immersed in the intricate details of a production. Those on the scenic team for any given production can expect audiences to experience their work very up close. We provide a convenient onsite scene shop one floor below the performance space, complete with standard equipment and various stock flats, platforms, and lumber. Rehearsals are generally Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 6-10pm and Saturdays & Sundays 11am-5pm, and will be held largely offsite during the build process until First On Stage.

Position Overview
- The Technical Director will work closely with the director, production manager, designers, technicians and artistic staff to execute all scenic elements of the production.
- The Technical Director will attend production meetings, technical and dress rehearsals (as needed).
- The Technical Director will work independently to build the set, within budget, while upholding the integrity of the scenic designer and director’s vision.
- The Technical Director will produce technical drawings, with respect to the individual needs of each production, as they deem necessary.
- The Technical Director is responsible for estimating and acquiring materials along with special‑order products, with help from the production manager and artistic leadership (with the exception of paint materials).
- The Technical Director will coordinate with the scenic artist throughout the build process so they may work in tandem, whenever possible and mutually beneficially.
- The Technical Director will coordinate with the production manager, company manager, designers, scenic artist, and technicians over shared time within the performance space leading up to production.
- The Technical Director will maintain a safe work environment while cultivating safe work culture practices in the shop and performance space throughout the build process, load‑in, and strike.
- The Technical Director will attend strike after each production’s close.
