Technical Writer

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to develop, maintain, and enhance documentation for our software products. This individual will work closely with development teams to ensure documentation remains accurate, user-friendly, and aligned with evolving product releases. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, update, and maintain user guides, product manuals, release notes, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with software developers and technical teams to document new features, system enhancements, and software releases.
Review, revise, and improve existing documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Maintain and organize documentation repositories and content libraries.
Ensure consistency with established documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines.
Edit and proofread technical content for clarity, grammar, accuracy, and formatting.
Evaluate and test documentation tools and software updates as new versions become available.
Manage documentation assets, including templates, CSS stylesheets, and publication workflows.
Support ongoing process improvements for documentation creation, maintenance, and distribution.
Required Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of professional technical writing experience.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and MadCap Flare.
Demonstrated ability to create clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation.
Experience working independently in a deadline-driven environment.
Technical Skills & Experience

Excellent written, verbal, editing, and proofreading skills.
Experience with documentation management systems and content publishing tools.
Familiarity with version control systems and document lifecycle management.
Ability to create, troubleshoot, and modify Windows batch (.bat) scripts.
Working knowledge of HTML, XML, and structured authoring methodologies.
Experience working with developer tools and technical teams.
Core Software Proficiency

Advanced Expertise Required

Microsoft Word : Styles, templates, formatting, macros, and advanced document management.
MadCap Flare : Project maintenance, import/export targets, stylesheets, variables, troubleshooting, and content publishing.
Adobe Acrobat Pro : PDF creation, document conversion, Actions, and light PDF editing.
Working Knowledge Preferred

XML and HTML editing and maintenance
Batch scripting (.bat files)
Subversion / TortoiseSVN
Eclipse IDE
Remote Desktop and Virtual Machine environments
PuTTY and server directory access
CSS stylesheet maintenance and editing
FTP tools and file transfers
Adobe Photoshop
Command-line utilities
Notepad++ or similar text editors
Snagit
Git repositories and version control workflows
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience in any of the following areas will be highly regarded:

Regular Expressions (Regex) for advanced search and content manipulation
JavaScript editing and troubleshooting
Visual Basic, including Word macro development
Visual Studio
Mainframe environments
Unix/Linux operating systems
