Performing Arts Technical Director - Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School located in spring Hill, FL is seeking a dedicated full-­time Technical Director in the Performing Arts Department who will oversee the technical aspects of various school productions and events. The Technical Director will be responsible for managing sound, lighting, set design, and other technical elements to ensure successful and engaging performances. The role also includes full‑time teaching of classes in Stage Design, Film Study, Television and Film Production, Technical Theater, and Digital Photography.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with directors, staff, and students to plan and execute technical aspects of productions.

Design and set up lighting plots, sound systems, and special effects for performances.

Supervise and train student crew members in technical operations.

Maintain and update equipment inventory, ensuring all tools are in good working condition.

Troubleshoot technical issues during rehearsals and performances.

Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth and successful productions.

Stay current on industry trends and new technologies to enhance productions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, Performing Arts, or related field.

Proven experience in technical theatre, with a focus on sound, lighting, and set design.

Strong knowledge of audio and lighting equipment and software.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, creative environment.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Experience working with high school students is a plus.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during productions.

This position will require successful completion of Level 2 background screening, safe environment certification, and mandated diocesan training.
