About the Role
Reporting to the VP of Programming, the Supervising Producer serves as the editorial and production lead, responsible for shaping the creative vision and editorial direction of assigned programs across linear and streaming platforms. This role drives content decisions, visual storytelling, and cross‑platform alignment, ensuring a consistent, high‑quality viewer experience. The Supervising Producer leads day‑to‑day production, overseeing rundown execution, live editorial decision‑making, and breaking‑news coverage. They manage and develop production teams while maintaining the highest standards of storytelling, operational efficiency, and audience relevance for Spanish‑language audiences in the U.S. and Latin America.
Responsibilities
Lead the editorial vision, structure, and execution of daily rundowns and content strategy; drive breaking news and rolling coverage in coordination with the VP of Programming.
Oversee end‑to‑end production, from planning to line‑producing through live or recorded execution.
Direct real‑time editorial decision‑making to ensure accuracy, clarity, and urgency on air.
Lead the effort to ensure TV content is quickly turned around to the FAST-streaming channel, ensuring fresh material across both platforms.
Ensure TV content is also optimized across digital and social platforms while maintaining editorial consistency.
Supervise senior producers and production teams, setting clear editorial standards and elevating storytelling quality.
Manage staffing, assignments, and day‑to‑day production logistics to ensure efficient workflows.
Oversee the creation and integration of on‑air graphics and visual elements to enhance storytelling and strengthen brand identity.
Partner cross‑functionally with Newsgathering, Digital, Planning, Promotions, Field Operations, Technical Operations, and Graphics.
Use audience data and performance metrics to inform editorial and programming decisions.
Incorporate sponsored and promotional content as required by show.
Troubleshoot editorial, technical, and production challenges in real time.
Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous development.
Maintain alignment with internal stakeholders, including CNN U.S. and CNN International.
Serve on‑call as required by news cycle demands, including extended hours.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.
8+ years in a fast‑paced, high‑profile news environment.
5–7 years of experience leading live programming and running shows.
3+ years of people‑management experience and building production/editorial teams.
Proven ability to lead live programming and breaking news coverage.
Strong and proven editorial judgment, writing, and editing skills.
Deep knowledge of Hispanic and global news, including current events and key players.
Strong understanding of standards and compliance guidelines.
Experience managing cross‑platform content (linear, streaming, digital, social).
Strong understanding of newsroom systems (e.g., iNews) and production workflows.
Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in high‑pressure environments.
Fluency in Spanish; strong written and verbal proficiency in English.
Preferred: experience with audience analytics, digital strategy, and engagement optimization.
Highly collaborative, solutions‑oriented leadership style.
