VDC Designer
with a passion for designing and coordinating mechanical building systems is needed to support complex commercial and industrial projects. This role focuses on either
Plumbing
or
HVAC Mechanical
systems and requires strong expertise in Revit, CAD, and constructability coordination.
Responsibilities
Review project specifications, engineering drawings, proposals, addendums, and other project documentation.
Create and maintain detailed, constructable 3D BIM models using Revit and CAD software.
Coordinate with project teams, field personnel, and fabrication shops to support efficient project execution.
Develop, review, and revise assembly drawings and spool drawings for fabrication.
Perform clash detection and collaborate with other trades to resolve conflicts.
Provide documentation and information required for permit submissions and plan reviews.
Manage plan review processes and coordinate revisions as needed.
Generate shop drawings, fabrication documents, and material cut sheets.
Archive and maintain project drawings and related documentation in electronic formats.
Support continuous improvement of BIM, VDC, and CAD systems to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
3–5 years of experience using Revit and/or CAD in the construction, mechanical, plumbing, or fabrication industry.
Experience creating and coordinating BIM models for commercial or industrial construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction documents, shop drawings, and fabrication processes.
Experience performing clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Ability to move throughout office, fabrication, and construction site environments as needed.
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting plumbing, piping, HVAC, or mechanical systems.
Familiarity with fabrication workflows and constructability reviews.
Knowledge of permit submission and plan review processes.
Experience working closely with field operations and project management teams.
Work Environment
Primarily onsite in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Potential for a hybrid schedule after approximately six months, based on performance, efficiency, and consistency.
