Freelance Producer - Spectrum News 1

This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship. As a Producer at Spectrum News, you will be at the heart of the newsroom, driving local news coverage, deciding what goes on air, and keeping the community informed across TV and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

Lead the charge on local news coverage and prioritize the most important stories.

Collaborate with colleagues to determine what to air and when.

Create engaging newscasts that attract and retain audience attention.

Transform story pitches into compelling broadcasts that inspire viewers.

Work across multiple platforms to share inspiring news.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years experience in television news.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Knowledge of social media platforms and basic editing skills (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro).

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; go‑getter personality.

Willingness to travel to cover community stories.

Flexibility to work different shifts and adapt to schedule changes.

Legal eligibility to work in the United States without employment‑based immigration sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of newsroom software, general office computer software, and basic non‑linear editing systems.

Ability to lift up to five pounds (if required).

Working Conditions

Primarily works in a climate‑controlled environment with occasional field duties.
