Anchor (KREM KSKN-TV, Spokane)
A TEGNA CBS/CW affiliate in Spokane is seeking a creative, innovative, and enterprising Anchor who is an excellent on‑camera communicator. The Anchor will work with producers to develop engaging newscasts, ask sharp but fair questions, and lead the station’s community storytelling efforts. The role requires a journalist who excels in accountability reporting, breaking news, and impact journalism, and who can work independently and as a newsroom leader.
Current driver’s license and the ability to operate a news gathering vehicle to and from various locations is required.
Responsibilities
Use editorial judgment to determine newscast content.
Collaborate with producers and the team to create fast‑paced, innovative newscasts.
Leverage social media to guide content and highlight big social stories.
Write and post daily content on all digital platforms, including social media.
Develop, write, shoot, and edit news stories for on‑air broadcasting.
Generate original content through social listening and independent sources.
Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor or executive producer.
Hold a Journalism or Communication degree (preferred).
Understand the tenets of professional journalism.
Exhibit excellent creative presentation and writing skills.
Requirements
Minimum 5–7 years of news anchor/reporting experience.
Proven ability to develop, write, shoot, and edit stories for television, mobile, and social platforms.
Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic style.
Use advanced editing and photography tools to tell compelling stories.
Generate original content through social listening and independent sources.
Deliver news events on air in an engaging, accurate manner.
Interview news subjects and research facts for credibility.
Write and post daily content on digital and social platforms.
Write enterprise news stories for the web, attaching images and streaming video.
Employ creative production techniques such as graphics, viewer pictures, webcam interviews, and other media to enhance stories.
Pay Range
$26.45 – $33.66 USD
