We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Freelance Designer to join our team and support the development of seasonal apparel collections from concept through production. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with strong technical design skills who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Designer will partner closely with cross‑functional teams to bring innovative, commercially viable products to market while ensuring accuracy in product development, technical documentation, and PLM management. This is a part‑time position based in New York City, working 3 days onsite.
Hourly pay rate up to $35.00
Responsibilities
Support the design team throughout the seasonal product development cycle, from initial concept to final production approval.
Create and maintain comprehensive Tech Packs, including detailed sketches, garment construction specifications, measurements, BOMs, trims, and fit details.
Develop and update product sketches, CADs, colorways, and presentation materials.
Manage and maintain product information within PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Organize design assets, seasonal documents, product libraries, and sample tracking records.
Assist with sample reviews, fit sessions, and product evaluations, documenting revisions and communicating updates to key stakeholders.
Collaborate with merchandising, production, sourcing, and technical design teams to meet development milestones and calendar deadlines.
Support the execution of products that balance design vision, consumer needs, quality standards, and business objectives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience in apparel design or product development.
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, fabrication, and the apparel development process.
Proven experience creating detailed Tech Packs for factory and vendor execution.
Experience working with PLM systems such as Centric PLM, FlexPLM, or similar platforms.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including relevant applications.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
