Graphic Designer

About the Role:
We are looking for a designer-first Graphic Designer with dev fluency to join our client's team in the financial services sector. In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling a new design system, establishing an independent fork, and creating a tiered component library with governance, documentation, and accessibility to make it usable portfolio-wide.
Responsibilities:
Fork an existing Design System as a starting point and establish an independent fork.
Stand up a tiered component library with the necessary governance, documentation, and accessibility baseline.
Partner day-to-day with the design lead and coordinate with Solution Architects on MCP alignment for AI tooling.
Build scaffolding in the Component Repo for Engineering handoff.
Create workflows for features leveraging the Design System to validate success.
Requirements:
5 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer, with proven dev fluency.
Hands-on experience building design systems and component libraries at scale.
Advanced Figma skills: variables, tokens, auto layout, variants, published libraries, branching.
Experience authoring Storybook documentation, MDX preferred.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Angular or a comparable component framework.
Strong understanding of enterprise-level design fundamentals.
Experience creating and documenting design standards, governance, and contribution models.
Experience running WCAG 2.1 AA audits and driving remediation.
Proven ability to support cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written English and ability to work independently across time zones.
Preferred Qualifications (if any):
Exposure to DesignOps models and workflows.
Experience working with ANT Design or similar enterprise UI frameworks.
Experience forking or extending an existing design system.
Experience using AI to accelerate design system component creation and documentation.
Development experience in Angular, including custom component and service development.
Expert agentic development experience.
Experience with pipeline development for package deployment.
Experience authoring unit tests to meet code quality and security requirements.
Familiarity with VS Code GitHub Copilot for component scaffolding.
Experience supporting global or distributed teams.
