Overview
The Director of Career Services is responsible for supervision and management of the Career Services Department, ensuring quality career services are delivered to all students and graduates, and ensuring that students have the knowledge and skills to successfully transition from graduate to employees in their chosen field of study. The Director also provides departmental leadership, vision, goal setting, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Ensures monthly “Career Connection Workshops” are held for every class.
Ensures the completion of initial assessments with all students within the specified timeframe.
Provides a collaborative effort with the education department so that Career Planning classes give students a professional resume, entry‑level interview skills, mock interviews, and job‑search techniques.
Completes required exit paperwork, both in group settings and one‑on‑one sessions.
Regularly conducts one‑on‑one coaching sessions with students.
Documents all correspondence between the career services department and a student/graduate/employer in CampusVue.
Ensures compliance with state, institutional, and programmatic accreditation regulations.
Establishes and maintains relationships with employers to develop partnership opportunities for externships and job placement.
Participates in or facilitates campus Program Advisory Committee meetings to insure compliance with state and accreditation agencies.
Assists in resume preparation and development with instructors and students.
Interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department, clearly communicating job expectations.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Required
Associate degree in a related field from an accredited institution or 2 years related experience.
Minimum 1 year management experience.
Knowledge of and experience with standard staffing and placement concepts, practices, and procedures.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups.
Ability to lead and work in an observation/coaching style environment.
Strong organizational and problem‑resolution skills.
Good computer skills, including MS Office products.
Experience and Education Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Previous management experience in the placement/staffing industry.
Previous experience as a campus‑based Career Services Director.
