Swimwear Designer, Lauren Ralph Lauren

Job Summary
Highly experienced swim designer responsible for seasonal line creation and development from concept to production of the major licensed swim brand, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Collaborate with licensor design team and director of swim design to create commercially viable swim assortment that meets the elevated aesthetic of the global brand.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Develop and present seasonal swim wear assortments based on sportswear rigs and licensor direction

Research and create shopping reports on current swim trends with focus on elevated aesthetic

Responsible for silhouette and design development for swim and cover ups

Collaborate on color palette and print

Source and develop fabrics and trims for swimwear and cover ups

Research and develop prints

Develop sketches and working line sheets

Design boards for meetings—both virtual and physical format

Responsible for all YPLM design functions

Communicate fit intent and relevant garment details to patternmaker

Work with print department on color ways, repeats, and graphics

Comment on lab dips and strike offs in collaboration with print team and design director

Participate in fittings and contribute to final product approval

Manage and deliver to seasonal calendars

Collaborative design approach—able to synthesize direction from both licensor and licensee to create on brand product that meets current business needs and opportunities

Qualifications/Requirements
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design

Experience

Min 3-5 years swim design experience

Skills

Outstanding sketching and presentation skills—fluent in Illustrator and Photoshop as well as YPLM

Solid understanding of fabrics, finishes, details, trims, fit, and construction

Working knowledge of Excel, InDesign, 3D Design

Excellent verbal and written communication skills—note taking in Adobe

Strong time management and organizational skills

Must be team oriented

Travel: N/A

Working Conditions: in office. Hybrid in office schedule. Must be in office 3 days/week, remote work 2 days/week. In office may be more based on training and needs of the Department/Company and customer.

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day
