You’ll be responsible for building complete lighting takeoffs and evaluating specified fixtures to develop value‑engineered alternatives—maintaining design intent while improving cost efficiency.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working deep in drawings, understands why fixtures are specified, and knows how to propose smart solutions.

What You’ll Do

Perform detailed lighting takeoffs and build costed bills of material

Analyze specified fixtures and develop VE options and approved equals

Structure pricing in clear bid formats, including base specs, alternates, and unit pricing

Source pricing from manufacturers and vendors to support competitive bids

Document scope notes, inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions for clean handoffs

Maintain organized bid files, BOMs, and internal fixture‑equivalency databases

Contribute to estimating templates, workflows, and best practices

What We’re Looking For

Ability to read and interpret construction and lighting drawings

Strong understanding of lighting systems (fixtures, drivers, controls, mounting)

High numerical accuracy and comfort working with pricing data

Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, and similar takeoff tools

Ability to work independently and manage multiple quotes simultaneously

Clear written communication and strong attention to detail

Willingness to learn lighting compliance fundamentals

Preferred Experience

Familiarity with lighting manufacturers, reps, or distributor pricing

Background in construction, electrical, design, or a related technical field

This role is designed to scale with the company and may grow into ownership of lighting quotation standards, process development, and training future estimators.
