About the Role
AWL is seeking a detail‑oriented, technically strong
Lighting Quotations & Specifications Specialist
to support lighting pricing and preconstruction efforts. This role blends drawing interpretation, lighting product knowledge, and cost strategy to produce accurate, competitive quotations.
You’ll be responsible for building complete lighting takeoffs and evaluating specified fixtures to develop value‑engineered alternatives—maintaining design intent while improving cost efficiency.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working deep in drawings, understands why fixtures are specified, and knows how to propose smart solutions.
What You’ll Do
Review architectural electrical drawings, RCPs, and lighting schedules
Perform detailed lighting takeoffs and build costed bills of material
Analyze specified fixtures and develop VE options and approved equals
Structure pricing in clear bid formats, including base specs, alternates, and unit pricing
Source pricing from manufacturers and vendors to support competitive bids
Document scope notes, inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions for clean handoffs
Maintain organized bid files, BOMs, and internal fixture‑equivalency databases
Contribute to estimating templates, workflows, and best practices
What We’re Looking For
Ability to read and interpret construction and lighting drawings
Strong understanding of lighting systems (fixtures, drivers, controls, mounting)
High numerical accuracy and comfort working with pricing data
Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, and similar takeoff tools
Ability to work independently and manage multiple quotes simultaneously
Clear written communication and strong attention to detail
Willingness to learn lighting compliance fundamentals
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with lighting manufacturers, reps, or distributor pricing
Background in construction, electrical, design, or a related technical field
This role is designed to scale with the company and may grow into ownership of lighting quotation standards, process development, and training future estimators.
