Contract: Temporary, Part-time

On-call part-time Video Editor (various shifts, as needed) to help create compelling, shareable videos for the New York Post's digital platforms. The producer is looking for a candidate who believes news doesn’t have to be boring and appreciates both odd and conventional stories.

Our goal is to make a mark in digital video and create memorable work and new watching habits among our audience, making videos that surprise viewers.

Responsibilities

Edit videos for digital platforms using a mix of original footage, stock footage, and social media content.

Work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

Possess knowledge across a variety of topic areas from national news, trends, and tabloid fare.

Ability to write short compelling headlines, video descriptions, short‑form scripts, and conduct quick research on various topics.

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience editing short‑form video for digital outlets.

Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere.

The ability to color correct and mix audio.

Experience with multicam editing, both with and without producers.

Ability to select and use music to match the tone and style of the story.

Excited about new types of multimedia storytelling with a track record of creating digital video in a fast‑paced newsroom environment on weekly deadlines.

Aware of current events across a broad range of topics.

Knowledgeable and skilled to pitch across various topic areas from national news, trends, and tabloid fare.

Must be organized, work well in a fast‑paced environment, and be a team‑player.

Motion graphics and simple animation experience is a plus.

Knowledge about post‑production workflow is a plus.

Other Information: This role may require on‑site presence at our Midtown, NYC location.

This is a temporary engagement facilitated through a third‑party vendor. Employment and payroll will be managed by the vendor.

Salary: $25–$40/Hr based on experience.

Base Pay Range: $25/Hr – $40/Hr. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.
