Role Description
The Community / Business Development Director advances the Chamber’s mission by strengthening the local business climate and driving strategic community development initiatives. This role leads business retention and expansion efforts, workforce alignment strategies, and data-driven policy research that informs advocacy and economic competitiveness. This is a senior-level position within a forward-looking, community impact Chamber model aligned with U.S. Chamber accreditation best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economic Development, Public Administration, or related field

5–7 years of experience in community/economic development, chamber leadership, workforce development, or related field

Demonstrated experience with business engagement strategies

Strong analytical and written communication skills

Preferred

PCED, CEcD, EDFP, IOM, or Community Development Institute completion

Experience in a military-influenced economy (e.g., communities adjacent to Barksdale Air Force Base)

Proficiency in Business Development, Relationship Management, and Strategic Partnerships

Planning, and Program Implementation experience

Strong Communications, Public Speaking, and Networking skills

Ability to analyze and promote business opportunities for growth and economic development

Knowledge of community engagement and advocacy principles

Proficiency in using productivity tools and databases

Experience working with nonprofit organizations or Chambers of Commerce is a plus

Leadership abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential
