This is a rare opportunity to join a high‑growth, consumer marketplace business at a pivotal moment and build a native iOS app from the ground up. Mobile is becoming central to the company's next phase of growth, and this role will play a defining part in shaping the product experience, engineering standards, and long‑term mobile strategy.
The organisation has strong product‑market fit, meaningful scale, and clear momentum, but remains lean enough that one exceptional iOS engineer can have outsized impact across architecture, user experience, and technical direction. This is a founding‑level mobile role with real ownership, influence, and visibility.
Responsibilities
Own the native iOS application end‑to‑end across core customer journeys including search, discovery, booking, account, and post‑booking
Design and define the iOS app architecture, engineering standards, and quality bar from the ground up
Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver polished, intuitive, high‑quality mobile experiences
Collaborate with Backend engineers to shape API contracts that prioritise performance, resilience, and long‑term scalability
Establish testing strategies, release processes, and observability to ensure reliability and performance at scale
Drive high standards for craftsmanship, performance, and engineering judgement across mobile
Influence product direction and help define the long‑term mobile strategy
Lay the technical foundation for building and scaling an iOS team over time
Must‑Have Qualifications
Strong computer science fundamentals; CS degree from a reputable institution preferred
Experience working in high‑bar engineering organisations with strong product and quality standards
Hands‑on experience with Swift and native iOS development (depth can vary)
Strong product mindset and ability to reason about user experience, performance, and trade‑offs
Ability to operate with high ownership in ambiguous, early‑stage or evolving environments
