Art Specialist.

Responsibilities

Oversee all activities in the Ceramics Studio, Woodshop, Multi‑craft rooms, Art Colony, and Sewing Room.

Teach a variety of classes to residents in Independent Living, Independent Living Plus, Assisted Living, and Long‑Term Care outside of the Ceramics Studio.

Conduct weekly safety inspections of all areas of responsibility.

Plan field trips with residents to facilities or fairs as requested in order to purchase supplies as needed.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.

One year of specialized experience at a GS‑05 level equivalent in the Federal service, including planning, supervising, or administering an educational, recreational, cultural or art program; performing as an artist; or demonstrating methods and techniques of art forms such as graphics, sculpture, pottery, ceramics, metalwork or jewelry.

Must satisfy the time‑in‑grade requirement for GS‑07: at least 52 weeks at GS‑05 level.

Will be required to complete a background investigation, a drug test, a pre‑employment physical examination, and the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program (if applicable).

Must complete mandatory ethics training within three months of appointment and comply with the AFRH Supplemental Ethics Regulations.

Education
Education generally must be from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be validated by a credentialing agency. Educational qualifications may substitute for specialized experience as follows: one academic year of graduate level education with a major study in fine or applied arts (18 semesters or 27 quarters); a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement and a major study of fine or applied arts; or a combination of experience and education as identified in the online questions.

Other Information
Consideration of other factors such as time after competitive appointment or current Federal employment may affect eligibility. Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non‑temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
