Elasticsearch Engineer

ABSC is seeking an Elasticsearch Engineer to design, develop and deploy a state-of-the-art technology stack supporting the DIA-NMEC DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P). This role supports the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) Modernization program and NMEC’s mission to centralize and standardize TCPED of OSINT across the DoD and IC enterprise. The position offers a flexible schedule with mostly on-site work in Bethesda, MD; some tasks may be performed remotely depending on client requirements.

Responsibilities

Design, implement and manage Elasticsearch clusters to support large-scale data indexing and search operations.

Optimize Elasticsearch performance by fine-tuning configurations, query optimizations, and cluster scaling.

Monitor Elasticsearch clusters for health, performance, and security, and implement proactive measures to ensure system stability.

Collaborate with software development and DevOps teams to integrate Elasticsearch into applications and workflows.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex Elasticsearch-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.

Implement security best practices for Elasticsearch, including access controls, authentication, and encryption.

Stay up-to-date with Elasticsearch and ELK Stack developments and recommend upgrades or enhancements.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Document configurations, procedures, and best practices for Elasticsearch administration.

Experience and Education

Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of proven experience as an Engineer, 3-5 years experience as an Elasticsearch Engineer, or Master’s with 1-2 years of proven experience as an Elasticsearch Engineer. Years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain CI Poly.

Experience in system integration testing through full SDLC, including implementing test plans, test cases and processes.

Strong expertise in Elasticsearch cluster design, performance tuning, and optimization.

Proficiency in Elasticsearch query DSL and search query optimization.

Experience with Logstash, Kibana, Metricbeat, and Filebeat is a plus.

Knowledge of Elasticsearch security practices, including RBAC and SSL/TLS.

Scripting and automation skills with Python, Bash, or Ansible.

Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.

Experience working in an Agile project environment and documenting test results for corrective actions, reporting and audits.

Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well on a team and as a self-starter.

Desired Experience

Knowledge of Atlassian software (JIRA, JIRA Service Desk, Confluence).

Experience with data engineering tools such as Kubernetes/Rancher, Cloudera.

Experience with scripting languages and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins or GitLab).

Experience working in air-gapped environments.

Experience in large computing environments (>1,000 endpoints).

Experience maintaining AI/ML environments (NVIDIA hardware and software).

Experience maintaining large data (petabyte-scale) environments and storage solutions.

Experience with advanced Linux network hardware (e.g., Mellanox NICs).

Pay Range
Pay Range: $154,050.00 - $278,475.00. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market data alignment.
