Senior Total Rewards Manager
OnX is a high‑growth tech company focused on creating products that inspire confidence in outdoor exploration. We are seeking a Senior Total Rewards Manager to shape how we reward, support, and invest in our employees as the company continues to scale.

Job Summary
The Senior Total Rewards Manager will lead the strategy, design, and implementation of compensation, benefits, wellness, recognition, and job architecture programs. This role requires strategic thinking and hands‑on execution, partnering with People & Culture, Finance, Recruiting, and business leaders.

Responsibilities

Evolve Total Rewards Strategy

Assess and evolve the entire rewards portfolio to ensure competitiveness, equity, and alignment with workforce growth.

Partner with People & Culture to translate philosophy into scalable programs and clear employee experiences.

Use data, market insights, employee feedback, and AI analysis to identify opportunities and inform recommendations.

Develop communications, resources, and decision‑making tools for employees, managers, and leaders.

Lead Compensation Programs & Job Architecture

Own benchmarking, leveling, pay bands, compensation review cycles, and market positioning.

Serve as a trusted advisor on compensation and job architecture decisions, partnering with finance, recruiting, and hiring managers.

Shape Benefits, Wellness & Employee Support

Lead evaluation and evolution of benefits and wellness programs, managing vendor relationships and building business cases.

Provide guidance on complex employee support matters, including leave administration and benefits escalations.

Build Scalable Operations & Capability

Operate as a player‑coach, balancing strategic design with hands‑on execution.

Build and improve systems, processes, documentation, and infrastructure that enable program scalability.

Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and enhance decision quality through automation, AI‑enabled workflows, and process redesign.

Qualifications

8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years focused on Total Rewards, Compensation, Benefits, or closely related disciplines.

Demonstrated experience designing, evolving, and operating Total Rewards programs with expertise across compensation, benefits, job architecture, leveling, and market analysis.

Experience scaling and evolving programs within growing organizations, understanding how employee needs, processes, and systems change.

Experience partnering with leaders, recruiters, and hiring managers on compensation decisions, offers, leveling, and retention strategies.

Proven ability to influence decisions and build credibility with senior leaders, navigating sensitive employee situations with empathy.

Player‑coach mindset, balancing strategic program design with hands‑on execution and continuous improvement.

Strong systems thinking with the ability to identify automation, process improvement, and AI‑enabled ways of working.

Excellent communication skills, translating complex concepts into clear guidance for employees, managers, and executives.

Experience with HRIS platforms and Total Rewards technologies.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Permanent U.S. work authorization required.

Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or strategic location.

Preferred Qualifications

Background within technology companies or supporting technical workforces.

Familiarity with Workday HRIS.

Experience evaluating, selecting, or managing benefits vendors and brokers.

Experience supporting distributed, remote‑first workforces across multi‑state regions.

Exposure to organizations that underwent significant growth or transformation.

Experience partnering with Finance or executive leadership on complex compensation decisions.

Involvement in M&A, integration, or restructuring from a Total Rewards perspective.

Compensation & Equity
Applicants can expect a base salary between $115,000 and $142,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Full‑time employees are eligible for a grant of common share options and an annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.

Location
OnX is a distributed company. Primary locations include Bozeman and Missoula, MT, with virtual base camps in Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
