Duties & Responsibilities
The Videographer/Editor reports to the Director of Video and Photography Services and collaborates with cross‑functional teams across the VCU enterprise. As part of EMC’s visual storytelling, the Videographer/Editor creates, captures, and edits high‑quality video content that aligns with the VCU brand, including brand marketing, brand journalism, owned websites, social media platforms, and other media channels. The role requires conceptual and execution skills, ability to manage multiple assignments, and a creative mindset that pushes frontiers.

Demonstrated ability to create brand storytelling through exemplary editing skills.
Proficient communicator of visual creative strategy, providing and receiving creative direction.
Ability to manage multiple video/editing assignments with great attention to detail.

Qualifications
7+ years producing, shooting, and editing engaging brand videos, short and long‑form content.
Experience creating, shooting, producing, and editing videos on strategic themes including brand marketing, branded news, lifestyle, education, social media, commercials, and documentary narrative.
Collaboration with vendors, agencies, or crews for larger scoped projects.
Partnership with creative, public relations, and brand teams to align project expectations.
Ensuring all assets align with VCU brand’s visual aesthetic, tone, and style.
Maintain digital assets and footage across all platforms.
Skilled in scripting and executing videos from concept to completion.
Proficient in production equipment and video editing software such as Premiere, Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and Photoshop.
Experienced in all aspects of post‑production: editing, sound, color grading, music pairing, basic motion design, and asset delivery.
Strong understanding of brand marketing and social media trends, building brand value and protecting reputation.
Comfortable wearing multiple hats as needed.
Prioritizes video projects autonomously using time and resources efficiently.
Excellent digital media file management.
Ability to foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience.
Experience in all phases of video production from conception to finished product.
Proficient in Premiere and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with DaVinci Resolve preferred.
Knowledge of ENG and EFP cameras (Red, Sony, Black Magic, DSLR) required.
Experience producing high‑end broadcast material preferred.
Salary Range
62,000 – 72,000
