Description
Under direct supervision, the Freelance Technical Director works as audio, video, or lighting engineer acting as an employee of Switch on a freelance or contract basis. They will be responsible for the setup, operation, and strike of Audio-Visual equipment, as well as the loading and unloading of trucks at show site.
- Sets up equipment, assists unloading truck, uncasing, assembles/connects appropriately as per specs.
- Operates equipment by tuning, dialing in program per event specifications and makes adaptations per client request as necessary.
- Breakdown all equipment on job site after event concludes and loads to truck in proper cases.
- Coordinate with on-site vendors to ensure that all company equipment and related resources are effectively delivered to and recovered from show-site.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid in-state Drivers’ License.
- Beginner to expert level experience in at least one facet of event production (Audio, Lighting, Video, rigging, staging, technical direction, production management).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as Theatre & Staging, Technical Production
- Familiarity with AutoCAD as it relates to the staging and exhibit industry.

- Ability to work in a physical environment and lift 100 pounds.
