The Director, U.S. Public Sector is responsible for leading strategic sales and business development efforts within the federal, state, and local government segments. This role requires a strong understanding of government procurement processes, government contracts and regulatory environments, and the ability to position the company's solutions as mission-critical assets to public agencies.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with experience navigating complex government ecosystems, closing high-value deals, and fostering strong client and partner relationships within the public sector.
What you'll do as the Director, US Public Sector:
This role requires up to 50% travel
1. Strategic Leadership & Market Development
Lead and grow business within the U.S. public sector, including federal, state, and local government agencies.
Develop and execute go-to-market strategies tailored to the unique needs and procurement models of public sector clients.
Identify growth opportunities through direct sales, RFPs, RFIs, GWACs, and other contract vehicles.
2. Sales Execution & Revenue Growth
Manage the full sales lifecycle from pipeline generation through contract execution.
Drive revenue growth by securing new logos and expanding business within existing government accounts.
Lead a team of account executives and capture managers to meet and exceed performance targets.
3. Client and Partner Relationship Management
Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with senior government decision-makers and influencers.
Have partner relationships with the partner public sector organizations.
Understand agency missions and align company offerings to support critical outcomes.
Ensure customer satisfaction and retention through strategic engagement and support.
4. Compliance & Government Regulations
Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to contracts, proposals, and reporting requirements.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Product, Legal, Contracts, Marketing, and Delivery teams to ensure government requirements are met.
Partner with proposal teams to develop compliant and compelling responses to RFPs and RFIs.
Engage with channel and technology partners to expand reach and capability.
What you will bring to the team:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, or related field (MBA or MPA a plus).
5+ years of experience in public sector sales, public sector sales management, business development, and government contracting.
Proven success in closing large, complex deals within government markets.
Deep knowledge of government procurement processes, contract vehicles, and compliance requirements.
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Qualified candidates can expect a salary range of $120,000-$150,000 + bonus
