ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
LA Parks Foundation is the nonprofit partner of Los Angeles City Recreation and Parks, championing equitable access to parks and programs for all Angelenos. Our communications work tells the story of parks as essential public infrastructure — and inspires Angelenos to connect with, advocate for, and invest in their local green spaces.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Communications & Social Media Intern will support the team in amplifying LA Parks Foundation’s voice across digital platforms and traditional media. You’ll help produce content, grow our community online, and craft compelling narratives about parks, people, and places in Los Angeles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and schedule engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter)
Assist with writing and editing e-newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and website copy
Monitor and respond to social media comments and messages in the foundation’s voice
Support content capture at foundation events and park activations (photography/video)
Track and report on social media analytics and audience engagement metrics
Help maintain and update the foundation’s website content (WordPress or similar CMS)
Research earned media opportunities and assist with media outreach
Collaborate with the programs team to highlight grantee and partner stories
QUALIFICATIONS
Current undergraduate or graduate student in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field
Excellent writing skills with strong attention to tone, clarity, and audience
Familiarity with major social media platforms and best practices
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact, or similar design tools preferred
Basic photography or video editing skills a plus
Genuine interest in Los Angeles, public parks, environmental equity, or community storytelling
