Overview As a Service & Repair Technical Writer, you will collaborate with innovative 3Mers across the globe to support the PSD USAC Service & Repair team. You will develop, maintain, and write technical documentation such as repair manuals, training materials, and service guidance to ensure safe product operation and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities Support the entire PSD USAC Service & Repair team in meeting customer demands for service support.
Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with both 3M and external personnel.
Communicate with 3M team members and leadership on New Product Introduction (NPI) and product improvement projects, in the development of product technical support documentation.
Design and write 3M product repair manuals for internal and external service networks to maintain safe product operation per 3M specifications.
Learn the full portfolio of 3M PSD products and understand the audience that uses them.
Develop and maintain technician certification training documentation for the supported PSD 3M products.
Instruct technician certification training on the supported PSD 3M products.
Serve as an internal liaison between 3M Service & Repair, Sales, Engineering, and Product Quality to resolve product technical problems.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or higher AND at least three (3) years of technical writing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
OR High School Diploma/GED AND at least seven (7) years of technical writing experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Competency with desktop publishing tools and general computer use, including experience with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Additional Qualifications Excellent communication and research skills.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Experience in project management and content management.
Experience in emergency response, firefighting, or fall protection industries.
Experience in the design, functionality, and application of PSD products.
Understanding of commercial sales/service models.
Ability to lift and place items or products weighing approximately 25 lbs. or less on a regular basis.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Vocational/Trade or Technical diploma and a minimum of three (3) years of technical/mechanical/ product service or repair experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in developing and conducting technical training through direct assistance and technician training sessions.
Location Onsite at the 3M Scott Fire and Safety Facility in Monroe, NC.
Travel and Relocation Travel may include up to 30% domestic travel.
Relocation assistance may be authorized.

Benefits Competitive pay range: $84,595 – $103,394 (includes base pay and variable incentive pay, if eligible).
