About the Parish
A warm, welcoming, and growing Episcopal parish in Newtown Square, serving the community for more than a century. This position opens following the retirement of our organist after eleven years of faithful service.

The role offers the opportunity to lead a well-established music program, supported by four paid section leaders and a fine hybrid pipe organ.

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Newtown Square, PA, seeks a part-time Director of Music Ministries and Organist following the retirement of our organist after eleven years of faithful service.

This part-time position (5–10 hours per week) offers the opportunity to lead a well-established music program in a welcoming, growing Episcopal parish with an average Sunday attendance of 66.

Responsibilities

Serve as organist for the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Eucharist

Direct a 6–8 voice adult choir, supported by four paid section leaders

Lead weekly choir rehearsals

Select hymns and anthems in collaboration with the Rector

Provide music for major liturgical celebrations

The Instrument
A well-maintained

three-manual hybrid pipe organ

installed by Brant Duddy, combining Austin pipework with Walker digital voices.

Its Austin console and broad tonal resources are well suited to Anglican liturgy, congregational accompaniment, and organ repertoire.

The Choir & Music
The choir rehearses

Sundays at 9:00 a.m.

and sings throughout the program year, using The Hymnal 1982 and Lift Every Voice and Sing (LEVAS). Summer offertory music is provided by a weekly soloist.

Compensation
$20,000 annually . Weddings and funerals are paid separately (current bench fee: $300 per service), and the Director receives the customary right of first refusal for these services.
