This program is unique for its "hands‑on first" philosophy, where students manage everything from internet radio (Scorp Radio) to live sports streaming and weekly news segments like Good Morning Farmington High. The Director role is a blend of educator, technical producer, and program manager.

Job Description: Director of FHS Live
Overview
The Director of FHS Live oversees the Farmington High School broadcasting department. The Director mentors students in live radio and video production, manages Scorp Radio, coordinates live coverage of Scorp Nation athletics and school events, and ensures the program maintains its reputation as a premier high school media outlet in New Mexico.

Core Responsibilities

Instruction & Mentorship: Teach fundamentals of live broadcasting, including interviewing techniques, scriptwriting, and technical operations.

Program Production: Supervise creation of weekly content including Scorp Nation News, The 60 Second Sport Short, and the weekly Good Morning Farmington High morning show.

Live Event Management: Coordinate live streaming of FHS athletic events (all levels) and school activities, including live event video board operations, music, and PA; often requiring evening and weekend availability.

Radio Operations: Manage Scorp Radio, the 24/7 internet streaming station, ensuring a mix of student‑programmed indie music and local talk segments.

Equipment Maintenance: Oversee operation and care of professional‑grade multimedia equipment, including cameras, soundboards, and digital streaming software.

Compliance & Awards: Maintain program’s high standards to compete for NMBA awards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Proficiency: Mastery of live video production equipment and internet radio streaming platforms; familiarity with digital audio workstations and video editing software.

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; ability to coach students on professional on‑air presence and decorum.

Leadership: Experience managing student teams in high‑pressure, live‑production environments.

Work Environment
Schedule: Full‑time, following the school calendar, but with significant extra‑curricular hours for game broadcasts and community events.

Setting: A dynamic mix of the classroom, the Scorp Radio studio, and on‑site remote broadcasting from various athletic facilities.
