Key Duties/Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the Technical Writer writes and edits technical reports, brochures, and/or manuals for internal documentation, customer reference, or publication. This person researches and analyzes available literature and verifies copy with appropriate departments and may coordinate production and distribution of materials. The Technical Writer III develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerning work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment. The writer observes production, developmental and experimental activities to determine operating procedures and details. The writer interviews production and engineering personnel, reads journals and reports, and reviews manufacturer and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relating to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. The writer studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure and production sequence and detail, organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology; and reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content and methods of reproduction and binding. The writer may maintain records and files of work and revisions, select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts to illustrate material; assist in laying out material for publication, arrange for typing, duplication and distribution of material, write speeches, articles, public or employee relations releases, edit, standardize or make changes to material prepared by other writers or plant personnel. This incumbent may specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures.

Preferred Experience/Education
Four-year degree with emphasis in writing/editing and/or five years’ experience in writing/editing or complex administrative type tasks.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), graphic design, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with Knowledge Sharing Network (KSN) administration and document management.
Ability to pass the applicable background investigation.
Salary: US$41.09 per hour
