The Stillwater County News, located in Columbus, MT, is looking for a community-minded sales professional to join our team as a Local Advertising Representative.

The Role

As our Local Advertising Sales Representative, you will be the primary point of contact for businesses across Stillwater and Sweet Grass Counties looking to reach readers through print and digital advertising.

You will build and maintain relationships with existing advertisers while developing new business opportunities throughout the region.

What You Will Do

• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and community organizations across Stillwater and Sweet Grass Counties.


• Meet with clients in person, by phone, and by email to understand their advertising needs and goals.


• Develop and present multi-media advertising campaigns across print, digital, and special publications.


• Manage a defined sales territory with accountability for revenue goals and client follow-through.


• Work closely with the editor and production team to ensure smooth execution of advertising commitments.


• Use proprietary software to schedule ads and coordinate ad layouts.

What We Are Looking For

• Local knowledge is essential. You should know Stillwater and Sweet Grass Counties, including the businesses, communities, and people who make this region unique.


• A genuine belief in the value of community journalism and local advertising.


• Strong communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing.


• A consultative, relationship-first approach to sales. This is not a hard sellwe are looking for a genuine problem-solver.


• Working knowledge of digital advertising products and tactics is a plus.


• Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and follow through on commitments.


• Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, good driving record, and auto insurance are required.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $15 per hour

Plus: Very generous commission package

Expected Hours:

• MondayFriday


• 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
