Job Summary

Originate loans in the niche markets served by Oak Street Funding. The VPII is responsible for prospecting lending opportunities and generally handling loan relationships with aggregate exposure between $1MM and $30MM, while developing relationships within those niche markets.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect lending opportunities and manage loan relationships within the specified exposure range.
  • Engage in direct to market outbound calls, build a circle of influence to drive referrals, and act as a thought leader for Oak Street to meet set goals and production levels.
  • Use a consultative sales approach to qualify lending opportunities and understand clients’ needs.
  • Prepare and present an initial loan structure to the loan committee, including a cash flow analysis, and articulate the financial strength of the applicant.
  • Present term sheets to prospective clients, articulating the risk profile and structure outlined in the term sheet.
  • Understand risk‑based pricing and negotiate loan terms with prospective clients.
  • Promote and cross‑sell other banking products.
  • Travel for business development, relationship management, due diligence trips, and representation at industry events.
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relationship‑based client procurement and account management.
  • Excellent business acumen, strong written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Organizational and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
  • Experience reviewing credit applications, personal financial statements, credit reports, and business financial statements.
  • Understanding of various corporate structures and complex mid‑market commercial loans.
  • Strong PC skills and sales negotiation experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of previous commercial lending, private, or business banking experience.
  • Credit training, credit quality, and underwriting fundamentals experience, including financial analysis.
  • College degree required.

Level of Complexity and Scope

Navigate in‑depth term sheet negotiations with large prospects, review and analyze complex credit applications, credit reports, and business financial statements, and present complex transactions to senior management.

Degree of Independence and Decision‑Making

Demonstrate the ability to work independently with strong time‑management and organizational skills, prioritize work, meet deadlines with accuracy, and collaborate with the deal team—including the Director of Underwriting, Chief Counsel, and Account Managers—to facilitate a positive client experience from onboarding through diligence and funding.

Required Supervisory Responsibilities

Provide mentorship to less experienced employees as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Typical office setting with desk and computer work.
  • Travel required for client visits, due diligence, and industry events.

Compliance Statement

The associate is responsible for meeting all compliance requirements imposed on First Financial Bank by state and federal law, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti‑Money Laundering, OFAC, Suspicious Activity reporting, and all other lending and deposit compliance requirements, as well as internal policies and procedures.

Pay Range

$94,000 per year – $112,000 per year.
