Relay is one of the fastest-growing products in the creator economy. Since launching to external brands on February 15th, we've booked >$100K/month in revenue with a growing waitlist of 9-figure consumer brands.
Right now the GM is on every client call, managing every relationship, and ensuring the work lands. That's the bottleneck. His highest-value job is selling, and every hour spent keeping clients happy is an hour not spent closing the next 9-figure brand.
We're hiring the person who takes client management off his plate entirely. You own client happiness. You manage the strategists who deliver the work. You make sure every brand is winning, so the GM can do what he loves doing most: sell and build new relationships.
This is hire #1 on the client side. If you're early in your career but already run clients like one of the best, this is the seat.
What is Relay?
Relay posts brand-approved, AI-generated content through a network of real creators on TikTok. 5,000+ posts per month, per brand, at a fraction of the cost of influencer marketing.
Instead of paying 10 creators $3,000 each for mediocre content, we generate hyper-realistic AI video, hand it to our network of 30,000+ creators, and they post it to their own accounts for $2 to $4 per post. The result: tens of thousands of posts per month and millions of views.
Once our team has defined which personas and messaging are working best across organic, we make high-end statics and AI + Human UGC for you to run in the ad account.
We built Relay as the internal growth engine for our consumer apps. We quickly realized it's a massive business on its own. We just onboarded our first external clients and demand is already outrunning us.
Who you'll work with:
- A small, full-time Relay team: Creative Lead, Product Lead, and 2 full-stack engineers.
- The creative strategists, who you'll manage. They build and iterate the client work. Your job is to make sure what they ship makes clients happy.
- You report directly to Brock, the CEO. You'll learn the client playbook from him, then take it off his plate so he can focus on sales.
The job, in one sentence
Keep every client happy by managing the strategists who deliver their work, and by being the person clients trust and lean on day to day. You free the CEO to sell.
What you'll do:
- Own client happiness, end to end. Retention, satisfaction, and growth of every account sit with you. If a brand isn't getting ROI, that's your problem to solve, not to explain.
- Manage the strategists. Make sure their work lands for clients. You set the bar, catch what's slipping before the client does, and keep delivery sharp and on time.
- Be the client's go-to. Onboarding, strategy calls, content reviews, performance reporting. You're warm, sharp, and easy to trust, the kind of person a brand wants to build a relationship with.
- Read every room. You steer a call from the first 30 seconds. You know when a client is excited, skeptical, or quietly unhappy, and you adjust before they have to say it.
- Run the operation smoothly. Keep the client-delivery machine moving so nothing falls through the cracks. This is as much operational discipline as it is relationship skill.
- Spot the upsell. When a client is winning, you make the next move obvious and you're not shy about it.
- Build the playbook. Document how great client service runs at Relay. What you build becomes the system your future team inherits.
- Feed the product. You hear what clients need first. Bring it back to engineering and shape the roadmap.
- Hire and lead your own client-services team (a CSM first, then beyond).
- Own Relay's retention and account growth as a standalone function.
Who should take this role:
A charismatic, scrappy operator who builds real trust with clients, reads people instinctively, runs a delivery team to a high bar, and loves the technical craft of making clients happy.
Background and experience (hard requirements):
- You've worked at an agency, running clients. This is non-negotiable. Getting on client calls and eating shit is a skill, and we won't be the first to teach it to you. You can't run a client-services team without having run clients yourself.
- Ideal path: a consumer brand first, then an agency, owning client relationships and the outcomes attached to them.
- You went to a strong university and have a track record of doing things outside the lines (extracurriculars, side projects, building stuff).
- You've worked at a startup or somewhere with startup energy. You move fast and you're comfortable with mess.
- You may not have managed a team before, and that's fine. What matters is that you love satisfying clients and you love the technicality of the work.
Traits we care about:
- Magnetic presence, in the room and on a call. People remember meeting you.
- High trust, high follow-through. You say you'll do it, then it's done.
- Reads the room. You catch what isn't being said.
- Operationally sharp. You keep a delivery team and a dozen client threads moving without dropping any.
- Commercial instinct. You see the upsell.
- You want ownership, not instructions. Ambiguity energizes you.
Why you shouldn't take this role (anti-sell):
- You want to be a "strategist" above the work. This role lives in the weeds with clients and the delivery team every day.
- You want a big team on day one. You run clients yourself until you've earned the team.
- You're uncomfortable with direct feedback and a high bar.
- You see client work as beneath you. Here, the client relationship is the job.
- You want to hide behind email. This role lives on calls and face to face.
