Duties

Help
Briefs Office and Department staff, representatives of other agencies, and Congressional staff members on evolving issues and current policies related to the portfolio.
Identifies, monitors and responds to emerging issues in the portfolio through review of embassy cables, discussions with Departmental interlocutors, think tank reports, observations.
Performs policy analysis and develops and disseminates information from disparate sources that contribute to and influence the establishment of policy in the region.
Serves as liaison with the governmental and non-governmental communities to inform and to explain U.S. policies; to explore new areas of mutual benefit, cooperation and exchanges; and to promote U.S. foreign policy goals and objectives related to the
Participates in meetings with agencies of foreign governments, multilateral, and/or international organizations to contribute detailed analyses and assessments of complex issues and alternatives to decision-makers.
