Position Summary

The Beacon Director provides strategic leadership and oversees the daily operations of a Beacon Community Center. Beacon Community Centers are collaborative, school-based community programs serving children ages six and older, teens, adults, and older adults.
The Director ensures the successful implementation of high-quality youth and community development programming while fostering strong partnerships with schools, families, community organizations, and stakeholders. This role is responsible for program quality, compliance, staff supervision, community engagement, and achieving contractual performance goals.
Primary Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of safe, engaging, and high-quality youth and community development programming.
Meet or exceed agency and contractual goals for participant recruitment, enrollment, retention, and family engagement.
Respond proactively to the evolving needs of participants and the surrounding community.
Ensure compliance with all agency policies, funder requirements, and contractual obligations.
Maintain accurate and timely attendance, registration, participant records, data entry, and reporting within agency and funder databases.
Plan, coordinate, and support special events, community initiatives, and family engagement activities.
Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with schools, community organizations, and local stakeholders.
Represent Queens Community House at community meetings, events, and outreach activities.
Supervise staff performance, monitor attendance, and approve payroll timesheets.
Serve as a senior leader within the Beacon Unit and the Youth Services Division.
Respond appropriately to emergencies by following established protocols, documentation, and follow-up procedures.
Oversee subcontracted and co-located programs, referral partnerships, and reciprocal service agreements.
Work evenings and weekends as required for program operations and community events.
Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Services, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory and management experience leading youth development and community-based programs.
Demonstrated success building collaborative partnerships and working effectively with diverse staff, families, schools, and community stakeholders.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Classroom, Canva, and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to obtain all required clearances and meet New York State School-Age Child Care Program Director requirements.
Preferred

Master's degree in a related field.
Previous experience working in school settings.
Experience working with diverse age groups.
Ability and technology to facilitate both in-person and virtual programming.
