Position Summary Head of US PR & Communications – responsible for steering Turo's U.S. communication strategy, shaping the national brand narrative, and leading a high‑impact PR team.
Responsibilities Shape & execute the national narrative: define and elevate the communication strategy, translate complex business dynamics into compelling stories, and pitch top‑tier press for critical coverage.
Support next‑gen search & LLM visibility: partner with SEO and digital marketing teams to bolster Turo's presence on AI search platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini) and conversational engines through earned media placements.
Manage digital brand & reputation: proactively oversee Turo's online brand health across digital forums and search ecosystems, ensuring an accurate and positive public narrative.
Modernize PR workflows: integrate native AI and digital efficiency tools into the PR team's processes to streamline research, optimize distribution, and scale output.
Provide executive positioning & thought leadership: advise senior leadership, build C‑suite public profiles, craft executive communications, and elevate Turo's voice through speaking engagements and thought‑leadership platforms.
Own the annual communications roadmap, resource allocation, and department budget, ensuring functional resilience and ROI.
Lead, coach, and mentor the communications team, maintaining a hands‑on approach to daily execution.
Foster cross‑functional synergy with Marketing, Legal, Product, and Government Relations, translating regional narratives into unified corporate stories.
Qualifications 10+ years of progressive PR and communications experience, with a proven track record in high‑impact campaigns within tech, marketplace, or hyper‑growth consumer sectors.
Strong digital literacy: deep understanding of modern search landscapes, AI platforms, and digital ecosystems, and an openness to adopt native AI tools for team efficiency.
Fearless & agile mindset: rapid pivoting in response to market dynamics, calm handling of pressure, and reliability across public‑facing communication channels.
Marketplace business acumen: structural understanding of tech business models, marketplace liquidity, and the impact of macroeconomic levers on brand health.
Established media relationships: network of top‑tier national business, tech, and consumer lifestyle journalists and influencers.
Values‑driven mentorship: ability to lead by example and embed company purpose and operating principles into storytelling.
Data‑driven approach: experience using analytics frameworks to convert data into strategic insights and measure sentiment against business metrics.
Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $196,000 – $245,000 annually (San Francisco, California). Eligible for equity, bonus, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plan with employer match, learning & development stipend, paid time off, and parental leave. Hybrid work arrangement: in‑office 3 days per week (Mon, Wed, Thu).
