ABOUT THE ROLE
The Apparel Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing and developing innovative and trend relevant apparel collections that align with the brands identity, market positioning and seasonal direction. The role requires a strong understanding of trends, materials, construction techniques, and market trends to create commercially viable product assortments. Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing deadlines and ensuring designs are both aesthetically appealing and commercially viable.

This role will be based at our Carlsbad office, with an expectation of being onsite at least three days per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Concept Development

Research global fashion, streetwear, and performance trends to inform seasonal apparel collections.

Develop original design concepts, sketches, and digital cads for various categories and styles within both men’s and women’s cut & sew and printable assortments.

Create color palettes, fabrications, trims, and embellishment details aligned with seasonal themes.

Collaborate with the design team to ensure cohesive brand storytelling across product categories.

Product Development & Technical Design

Develop detailed tech packs, specifications, and design sheets for sampling and production.

Work closely with product development, sourcing, and factories to ensure design intent, fit, and quality standards are met.

Review prototypes, samples, and pre-production units, providing clear feedback for revisions.

Stay updated on innovations in materials, manufacturing, and sustainability.

Collaboration & Communication

Partner with merchandising and marketing teams to ensure collections meet market and cost objectives.

Present design concepts and seasonal collections to cross functional partners and leadership.

Maintain strong communication with vendors, suppliers, and factory partners.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

5-7 years of professional experience in apparel design.

Strong portfolio showcasing creative and technical design skills specific to headwear.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop, and 3D cad design

Deep understanding of headwear construction, materials, and trims.

Excellent trend forecasting, concept development, and storytelling ability.

Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

SALARY RANGE
The base pay for this position is between $38.47 – $43.27 per hour. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Brixton’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.
