Help Create Exceptional Educational Content
We're looking for a talented volunteer editor to help improve articles, educational materials, website content, training documents, and other publications.
This role goes well beyond proofreading. We're looking for someone who enjoys improving the overall quality of a piece of writing. Some projects may require reorganizing sections, moving paragraphs, improving flow, reducing repetition, shortening content, identifying missing information, and asking thoughtful questions that make the final piece significantly stronger while preserving the writer's voice.
Some projects may require only light editing, while others may involve substantial revisions and collaboration with the writer from beginning to end. We value editors who can recognize the strengths of a piece, identify opportunities for improvement, and help transform good writing into exceptional writing.
Responsibilities
Edit articles, educational materials, website content, and other publications.
Improve organization, structure, and readability.
Reorganize sections and move paragraphs when it strengthens the content.
Improve transitions and the overall flow of ideas.
Reduce redundancy and unnecessary wording.
Shorten content while preserving the author's intent.
Maintain each writer's unique voice and style.
Identify areas where additional information, examples, or clarification would improve the piece.
Ask thoughtful questions that strengthen the final publication.
Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and consistency.
Collaborate with writers using Google Docs.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
Has excellent editing and writing skills.
Enjoys improving existing content.
Can recognize when an article would benefit from restructuring.
Has strong attention to detail.
Is comfortable providing constructive feedback.
Can communicate clearly with writers.
Works independently and follows through on projects.
Experience editing articles, blogs, books, reports, newsletters, educational materials, magazines, or similar publications is preferred.
